Categorizing Personal Air Vehicles
In our search for the future fleet, NexAvian is attempting to categorize the personal air vehicles in the market based on their specifications, performance, and eventual certification plans. Our goal is to eventually supply you with the best flyer for your specific business or recreational needs.
Urban Air Mobility (Air Taxis)
With the advancements in drone technology many companies and individuals have been able to design passenger carrying drones, also knows as autonomous aerial vehicles. Although not currently available to the public, many of these flyers are in the flight testing and in certification phase with plans to hit the market soon. Here is a sample list of companies that are making great progress on this air taxi front.
Human Flight
These innovators truly bring their passion of human flight to their designs and have proven that anything is possible in the future of human flight experiences. This category of personal air vehicles is a blend of machine / body where the operator uses human flight techniques to control their flight characteristics. This would be more for the recreational user who will need both physical and theoretical training before attempt any flights. Some may consider this to be more of the riskier and experimental human flight experiences, however we consider this to be some of the most creative and innovative ways to enjoy the skies with the birds!
Hover Bikes
If you can sit on it and fly or hover then we consider it to be in this category. Although these flyers are again more for the recreational market, we see many applications such as military, police force, search & rescue, and perhaps one day personal urban flight. Revolutionizing unmanned airborne logistics, this fleet can also deliver heavy aid and equipment autonomously across remote areas safely and reliably. It’s important to highlight that most of these flyers have adopted the technology from the drone industry and continue to work closely with these manufacturers, especially when it comes to autonomous control.
Free Flyers
Lastly, our favorite type of personal air vehicles, the free flyers who simply enjoy the freedom of human flight with nothing but their own bodies and some fabric. Skydivers, hang gliders, para gliders, wing suiters, and all humans trying to soar the skies to fulfill that dream of flying. We even include our own Birdly virtual reality flyer in this category!
